Hoping to earn an increase in playing time with the 76ers next season, Furkan Korkmaz sought to prove himself at the FIBA World Cup in China. Representing his native country of Turkey, the 22-year-old shooting guard had an impressive showing in a pre-tournament game against Greece and showcased his athleticism in games against the United States and Japan. Korkmaz averaged 11.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists during the tournament. He also shot 38.9 percent from three-point range.
If Korkmaz can consistently make three-point shots, he could fill a role previously held by JJ Redick, who signed a two-year contract with the New Orleans Pelicans. Korkmaz made 32.6 percent of his three-point attempts in 2018-19. Through 62 career regular-season games, he has averaged 4.9 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 0.9 assists per game.
